Job description

We’re working with a UK studio to find them a Senior Technical Animator to create lifelike animations for characters, objects, and environments on the studio’s co-dev projects and also their own IP.

You will be a central member of the Animation team, working closely with Technical Animators, Animators, Tech Artists and Designers to devise animation solutions and pipelines to help achieve the level of quality needed for characters, creatures, vehicles, and objects in the games the studio is working on.

***Initially, this is a 12-month fixed term contract with the possibility to be extended or become a permanent position after 12 months. The hiring studio has asked that applicants should be based in the UK and hold the right to work in the UK.***

Your responsibilities…

  • Assist in implementing animations into Unreal Engine 5, creating and maintaining animation blueprints, setting up animation montages, integrating with existing systems, and utilising best practices.

  • Assist in creating rigs and supporting with tools in Maya.

  • Act as a liaison between Design, Art and Code teams to deliver high-quality and optimised gameplay experiences.

  • Work closely with the Animation team and Creative Director on defining and maintaining the style and quality bar of in-game animations, focusing on feel and player experience.

  • Work with Animators, Designers and Technical Artists to ensure animations meet technical requirements and can achieve the artistic vision.

  • Work with Leads to develop, maintain and follow character art and animation pipelines.

  • Manage time effectively to meet animation deadlines and project milestones.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • 4 years’ experience as a Technical Animator in the games industry

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your work.

  • Experience with Unreal Engine animation tools, animation montages, animation blueprints, state machines, blend trees, animation modifiers etc.

  • Strong understanding of best practices for quality and performant animation solutions.

  • Experience in rig creation and skinning in Maya.
