Job description
We’re working with a QA provider based on the glorious Caribbean Island of Barbados as they look to bring in a QA Manager to support their QA Director in developing effective and efficient quality assurance solutions for clients.
As QA Manager you’ll be involved in implementing QA processes, workflows, and tools, as well as building, hiring, training, and managing QA teams according to client requirements and expectations.
The studio places an emphasis on the development of their team, and you’ll design, plan and facilitate programs, workshops and demos to contribute to the development and upskilling of your QA team, to help them reach their potential and progress their careers. You’ll also train, mentor, and hold regular one-on-one meetings with your direct reports.
Your responsibilities…
Collaborate with QA Project Managers and QA Leads to ensure timely completion of assigned QA tasks
Assist in identifying new testing tools, solutions, and debugging options to enhance test efficiency
Develop and maintain QA resource schedules, test plans, and guidelines for assigned projects
Conduct ongoing project risk analysis and perform QA audits
Oversee and maintain QA hardware, tools, documentation, and test accounts
Maintain transparent communication with internal and external project stakeholders
Drive the adoption of standardized reporting templates and processes
Recommend QA KPIs/metrics and implement dashboards to visualize team performance and project health
Lead QA-oriented retrospective/post-mortem meetings and communicate new action items to team members
Identify gaps in testing strategies and propose improvements to existing processes and test methodologies
Build and nurture strong partnerships with existing and new clients, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned projects
Evaluate and enhance recruitment and hiring processes for QA staff and interview for QA hires when required
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
8 or more years of QA experience in the games industry
3 or more years in a managerial or lead QA role
Expertise in software QA, game development practices, production lifecycles, and industry terminology
Experience of resource management, including hiring and career development
Strong communication, risk analysis, and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach to client relationships
Ability to motivate teams, mentor individuals, and thrive in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of Functionality, Compliance, and Compatibility QA processes and best practices
Familiarity with game engines, platforms, SDKs, and development/testing tools
Proficient in common bug tracking databases such as JIRA and test management software like TestRail
Not essential but desirable extras…
ISTQB or equivalent certifications
Knowledge of certification requirements for console platforms
Experience managing large test teams and overseeing multiple large-scale game projects
Familiarity with mobile and VR testing
Experience with Live Ops and Games-as-a-Service projects
Knowledge of continuous testing and test automation
Proficiency in programming and scripting
