Job description

Here at Aardvark Swift, we’re working with an established studio, based in Guildford, to hire a technically proficient UI/2D Artist to help develop their new game. The project under development is the studio’s own unique IP and is being built in Unity.

You’ll be joining a small, but experienced team of game dev veterans, your role as a UI/2D Artist will see you developing high-quality 2D graphics, such as assets, icons, menus, and other interface components, ensuring they are consistent with the game’s art style and technical requirements.

You’ll be working closely with Game Designers and other Artists to ensure that the UI/UX design aligns with the overall vision of the game and enhances player experience.

Please note that this is an in-studio role requiring a commitment to typically work 5 days per week in the studio, although flexible working solutions can also be discussed.

Your responsibilities will also include…

  • Producing detailed wireframes and documentation that clearly communicate design intentions and workflows to the development team

  • Pre-visualize, mock-up, prototype, animate and implement UI designs

  • Addressing UI/UX issues that arise during development and post-launch, iterating on designs to improve user experience and fix bugs

  • Working alongside the Lead Artist to develop polished, high-quality effects and craft dramatic moments in a predominantly 2D title

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • Professional experience shipping a Mobile/PC/Console game with 2D elements

  • Broad range of skills in UX Design, UI Art

  • Strong working knowledge of Unity engine

  • Ability to work in-engine on complex UI elements to bring them to life via animation, VFX and transitions

  • Able to iterate high fidelity 2D art to match existing art styles and contribute to new ones

  • Portfolio of 2D/UI art that highlights rich, varied, high-detailed work with VFX driven transitions 

  • A strong understanding of UX and a penchant for bold UI Design

  • Comfortable working with autonomy within a hugely experienced team 

  • Any experience developing card games would be a bonus

  • Hold the right to work in the UK and be able to work in studio in Guildford 5 days per week
