Job description

Aardvark Swift is supporting an innovative, venture-backed start up in their search for a Senior Engine Programmer as they develop a ground breaking game engine for open-world RPGs.

As the studio’s Senior Engine Programmer, you will focus on developing a cutting-edge graphics rendering pipeline, ensuring seamless integration with the AI-powered engine in real-time gameplay.

This is a fully remote role, and a rare chance to shape the future of gaming, playing a key role in building the first game engine designed from the ground up with LLMs at its core. You'll work alongside a highly skilled team with deep expertise from renowned AI labs and a track record of publishing in top machine-learning conferences.

The fledging studio is building a unique game engine from the ground up, leveraging large language models (LLMs) to create adaptive gameplay. Dedicated to blending cutting-edge AI with top-tier, human-crafted art assets, this team is backed by leading VCs behind successes like Epic Games and Rec Room.

Your responsibilities…

  • Develop and optimize a custom rendering engine for real-time 3D graphics

  • Collaborate closely with the team to integrate rendering with the LLM-based engine

  • Explore and implement new technologies to advance real-time rendering capabilities

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • 6 or more years as an engine programmer, ideally with indie studio experience and a portfolio of visually striking projects

  • Ability to design and develop engines from scratch during pre-production

  • Experience building rendering pipelines

  • Expert knowledge of C++ and graphics APIs like OpenGL or Vulkan

  • Innovative mindset and a passion for building custom rendering engines and experimenting with cutting-edge tech

Bonus points if you have familiarity with Rust, game engines like Bevy, and tools such as Embark’s kajiya
