Job description

TT Games, creators of the hit LEGO game franchise are looking for a Lead or Principal Level Designer to work on a new LEGO title based on a major IP.

As a Lead or Principal Level Designer you’ll work alongside the Assistant Design Director, helping to evangelise the game vision, ensuring it is clearly communicated to your team and carried through into the title’s level design and implementation.

You’ll lead and nurture a team of Level Designers to deliver high quality levels which support the creative pillars of the game. Ensuring your Level Design team understand the vision and design of the game, hold regular reviews and provide feedback to your team so their work meets the required quality bar. You will also support feedback from other disciplines, the Design Director, and User Research.

Your responsibilities will also include…
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, building positive relationships to ensure that they are involved in the design process
  • Establish level design best practice, and improve the level design workflow for your team
  • Ensure team members follow agreed development practices as well as ensuring that their work maintains stability and quality throughout development
  • Work with the Production teams to verify your teams task estimations, and see that their work is delivered to the required quality level and to agreed timescales
  • Oversee, mentor and coach the Designers and take an active role in their career development, including annual appraisals and goal setting
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and respect
  • Identify key hires for your team and take an active role in the recruitment process
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Experience working on a AAA title as a Lead or Principal Designer
  • Shipped one or more action/adventure titles on console or PC as a Lead or Principal Designer
  • Broad knowledge of all aspects of game and level design
  • Strong understanding of layout, architectural composition, combat and encounter design, balancing, flow, difficulty, progression & usability
  • Able to create engaging and fun levels
  • A passion for creating fun and accessible games for children and families
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of UE4/ UE5 an advantage but not essential
