Job description

We’re looking for a talented Mid or Senior Lighting Artist to join a UK based studio who are at the cutting edge of technology and creativity, delivering co-development video game services to global AAA client and offering the opportunity to work on multiple, exciting projects.

As a Lighting Artist you’ll create stunning lighting and setups that elevates the visual storytelling of the studio’s projects. You’ll be part of a well-established studio who boast an impressive portfolio of projects, and their fun and supportive culture has been recognised year after year as one of the best studios to work at in the UK.

This role can be worked remotely within the UK, as a hybrid or on site role in the North West UK or Madrid, Spain.

Your responsibilities…

  • Craft lighting setups that enhance mood, atmosphere, and visual storytelling

  • Collaborate across teams to create dynamic lighting for environments, characters, and gameplay

  • Optimise lighting for various platforms, balancing performance and quality

  • Contribute to a pipeline-friendly workflow and document your processes

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • 2 or more years' experience as a Lighting Artist in the games industry

  • Expertise in creating mood and atmosphere through lighting

  • A keen artistic eye and understanding of colour theory, shadows, and visual storytelling

  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 with lighting systems and post-process effects knowledge

  • Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit

  • A portfolio highlighting your skills and the projects you’ve worked on

Bonus points if you have experience of…

  • Lumen or other dynamic GI lighting systems.

  • Legacy lighting workflows and low/mid-end hardware optimisation

  • Traditional art, photography, or cinematography

  • Blueprinting or custom lighting tool creation in Unreal Engine

  • Working in co-development/client-facing environments
