Aardvark Spotlight: Glenn Spenceley
Glenn works as the performance and training manager at Aardvark Swift. He spends his time making sure everyone knows what they’re doing, creating and managing KPIs and making sure that everyone has the knowledge, skills and resources to do their job.
How would you describe your average day?
I have to be quite reactive, which means I have to be read to respond to any problems, If someone has a technical issue, I have to be ready to adapt. Typically, I spend a lot of my time working with the CRM software and number crunching to make sure we have good data.
Did you receive any training?
I have received training throughout my time here, but I usually help the consultants with their training which they receive throughout their career.
What do you love most about working here?
I’m the oldest person in the business, so it’s nice to be working in a young and dynamic environment, which makes it very innovative and open change. I don’t have direct involvement with the clients and the candidates but the industry that we work in is very interesting and you can see that the Aardvark team are very passionate about it.
What did you do before working at Aardvark Swift?
I used to work as a commercial trainer where I delivered seminars to a commercial marketplace. I’ve had experience working in consultancy where my job role varied from everything from giving management training courses, customer service to IT.
What drew you to Aardvark Swift?
13 years ago I trained Ian and some of the other former colleagues about business presentation skills. Then 4 years ago, we had a conversation about me joining the business, and since then i’ve really enjoyed my time here and the community that we have.
What are the perks for working at Aardvark Swift?
The biggest perk for me is being able to go to the gym at lunch time. It’s great to work with people who have similar interests and passions whether that’s games, sports or food.
How would you describe your Aardvark Swift journey?
I’ve had the opportunity to challenge myself in my time here. My job has allowed me to bring in new systems ranging from IT, phones, working practices and KPI systems, they’ve all been challenging but have benefited the business.
What do you get most out of your role at Aardvark Swift?
It’s the sense of achievement from the success of things we’ve achieved. In the 4 years since I’ve been here, we’ve learnt a lot about what we do and who we are as a company. I think that we are demonstrating that we can achieve some of our company bests, since I‘ve been here we have increased our annual sales and we should see our best annual sales this year, it’s a nice sense of accomplishment.
Favourite memory so far?
The end of year staff party is always a highlight, we get to celebrate all the hard work we’ve achieved over the year. I got to see my colleagues going swimming in Rother Valley lake at 1am, which was one of the funniest thing I’ve seen.
