Senior Rendering Engineer
Playground Games – Leamington Spa, UK
Have you been keeping track of all of the titles being announced for next gen consoles? Did the teaser trailer for Fable throw you back to 2004, when you were just starting your career in games development? Maybe it was still just a hobby at that point in time? Well, Playground Games are looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer to join the Fable team to help them bring this revived classic to life.
Playground Games was established in 2010, bringing together some of the most experienced and talented developers from the UK games industry, with the vision to create genre-defining titles for a global audience. Since then, they have created four critically-acclaimed, award-winning hits; the Horizon games have garnered more than one hundred awards and have been played by many millions of fans.
Playground has two world-class studios in Leamington Spa. In their original HQ, they continue to support and grow the huge Horizon community. In their new studio, on the other side of town, they are excited to be developing Fable, a new beginning for the legendary franchise.
To continue the excellent progress already made, they are looking for someone with first-rate C++ and software architecture skills who has the experience of coding, debugging, and optimising complex systems on published titles. You will be a key part of their development process.
Working at a senior level, in a team of rendering engineers, you will be responsible for implementing cutting edge rendering techniques. Engineers with in-depth knowledge of current gen consoles are ideal for this role, as you will innovate on this technology to produce a visually stunning title.
You must be able to work closely with art teams to realise their vision. You will be highly motivated and approachable, with a strong desire to push the boundaries of technology.
The skills and XP you'll need to succeed:
- Experience of working on published titles on current gen consoles
- Strong C++ and software architecture skills
- Detailed knowledge of rendering techniques and performance on current gen consoles
- Excellent communication skills
- A passion for games
- Experience of mentoring and coaching junior engineers would be a bonus
This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced team at an early stage of development, helping to define the processes and technological direction of the company. It provides exciting new opportunities for established developers looking to further their careers.
