Lead Programmer

Fabrik – Manchester, UK

Fabrik is an independent games developer based in Manchester, UK. As a studio, they have been established for over six years, and already have a highly experienced team which they are looking to expand.  As their new Lead Programmer, you will be an integral part of the team and will have the opportunity to take ownership of key components of upcoming titles. You'll develop your skills and career further, as your talents are nurtured in this supportive environment.

Over the next five years, Fabrik will be bringing the development of world-class games to market, with the drive to bring new IP to players always at the heart of what they do. This will be done through co-development opportunities whilst working on future-facing platforms; meaning expansion into different genres of games and technologies.

The skills and XP you'll need to succeed:

  • Strong working knowledge of C++
  • Capable when working in 3rd party engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity
  • A history of multiplatform development experience
  • 2+ years in a Senior Programmer or Lead Programmer role
  • A self-motivated worker who can prioritise tasks for the entire code team
  • Sound understanding of software development practices
  • Ability to adapt or suggest alterations to existing engines and workflows
  • Good working knowledge of continuous integration practices

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Taking the lead in regards to code direction for the studio
  • Providing concise development progress updates to the production team
  • Offering feedback, guidance and advice to the code team as required
  • Identifying development risks on projects and developing contingency plans to put into place with the team
  • Growing and developing the code team, with a focus on mentoring team members and conducting performance management
  • Ensuring the studio and your team follow solid coding practices
  • Maintaining a high bar for code quality
