Head of Communications – Nottingham, UK

Job Description

This is your chance to be a Head Of Communications for a leading independent studio that boasts an impressive portfolio of 75 games across multiple platforms, with in excess of 65 million units sold and some of the biggest, and well loved, franchises in games!

This role will be Nottingham based

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own, define and optimise the brands unified communications strategy across all marketing channels
  • Use strong data and metrics experience to inform, drive and elevate results
  • Stay on top of changes in the games industry and ensure the brands communication efforts remain cutting edge, relevant and effective
  • Lead and continue to build a growing and best in class communications team, facilitating the recruitment and on-boarding of new team members and developing existing team members
  • Demonstrate expertise and mentorship across all communications disciplines such as community management, social media, PR, email and influencer management
  • Guide the community and PR teams in building and executing outstanding global campaigns for all products
  • Deliver an effective corporate communications strategy that drives and heightens profile in the videogame industry globally
  • Provide effective, timely crisis communications when required
  • Be responsible for the global consumer and media events strategy
  • Implement strategies to grow social and community channels in line with business aims
  • Oversee community managers’ content strategy for web, CRM and on-store news channels
  • Manage the customer service team, communicating any relevant developments and plans to them, ensuring they are fully integrated into the community team and wider business
  • Maintain relationships with key contacts at platform holders, coordinating on announcements and community activities Instil best practice for influencer relations with community managers, identifying areas for growth and improvement, driven by audience understanding and KPIs Management of departmental budget 

The Skills & Experience required for the role are below: 

  • Five years’ experience of working within a team in a direct to consumer marketing environment
  • Proven track record in delivering effective communications campaigns Strong experience of building and nurturing communities within the entertainment sphere
  • Experience in a PR or comms role is desirable
  • Events management experience is desirable
  • A passion for videogames
  • Proven team management and leadership skills
  • Expertise of influencer management and current gaming influencer landscape
  • Good knowledge of marketing tools, social analytics and sentiment analysis with experience of identifying, setting and developing metrics to measure communications effectiveness and sentiment
  • Must be a creative person – writing ability, image/video editing skills and livestream presentation experience are all preferred
  • Existing relationship with major platform holders preferred
  • Experience of budget management
