Looking to work in a successful PC/console studio? Of course you are!

Dovetail Games has over 100,000 passionate players across the world enjoying their real world simulation experiences, and are quickly growing. Due to this expansion they have recently moved into a new river-front studio in the heart of the historic dockyard in Kent!

Now they're looking for someone with a passion for performance, efficiency, and UE4! This studio is committed to building enthusiast-driven games that are by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. They're games are based around photorealistic, open-world, online multiplayer environments.

As they approach a critical point between current and next-gen platforms, they are striving to improve performance, develop/optimise engine extensions, and adopt the latest UE4 features.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Integrating the latest UE4 engine releases
  • Working with team leads to develop new engine features
  • Refactoring existing engine modifications, focused on integrating simplicity, code quality, and abstraction/encapsulation
  • Optimising game and engine performance
  • Continual R&D for current and next-gen platforms
  • Cross discipline support and training
  • Working on high and low-level code across various domains

The skills and XP you'll need to succeed:

  • Professional experience with UE4 and C++
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of game engine architecture
  • Strong software engineering skills, with an ability to program clearly, efficiently, and evolve your style and practices where required
  • A good understanding of relevant areas of mathematics (discrete, linear algebra, etc)
  • Knowledgeable of graphics, physics, animation, and audio processes
  • Experience with profiling, analysis and optimisation
