This month we cross into West Yorkshire as we visit Team17, a fixture of the UK games industry and developers behind recognisable games such as Worms and Overcooked. Continued success has seen them go from strength to strength, expanding to new locations which include a state-of-the-art studio in Wakefield. “We’ve had to take people who wanted to be at a studio of 30 people and retain them as we scale up to be a studio of 200 people,” explains Jasper Barnes, Talent Acquisition Manager at Team17.
They have achieved just that through a series of internal initiatives which have given their employees a voice. “Recognition programs take a lot of time to embed for businesses that haven’t had things like that before,” continues Viki Freeman, Human Resources Business Partner, who has been at the forefront of these wellness drives.
In this episode, I speak with Viki and Jasper to investigate what it’s like to work at the studio. From the crazy expansion they are experiencing, to wellness schemes and their 30th anniversary. Follow them across social on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to keep up to date with their latest projects.
Without further ado, you can find the episode in question below! New episodes will launch on the last Friday of every month, debuting on the Aardvark Swift website until the following Monday when they will go live across Spotify, Apple Podcasts and third party apps.
