Our candidate was a final year Game Art Design student who entered our Search For A Star environmental art competition, and subsequently won in his category.
Our specialist graduate recruiter recognised the candidate’s talent straight away in the competition, and began working with him on his CV and portfolio as soon as he expressed his desire to work in the games industry. Our recruiter provided the candidate with studio options that she felt their art style would be particularly fitted for – one of these was Cloud Imperium Games.
During the second round of the competition, the candidate chose to create sci-fi inspired art assets to match the style of Cloud Imperium Games and show them what they were capable of. The competition acted as a platform to allow them to do this, and helped them stand out from the crowd at the interview stage. It showcased their passion for the industry by not only working hard during their degree, but also getting involved in extra-curricular activities to provide content for their portfolio.
Despite there being no specific vacancy open at Cloud Imperium Games for a Junior Props Artist, the candidate’s CV & portfolio was enough to impress the studio, who invited them for an interview and offered the candidate a job working on their massively anticipated game, Star Citizen.
