Our candidate was an aspiring video game programmer who had recently graduated with an MEng in Computer Games Design in Belfast. They had a strong portfolio, having worked for multiple studios abroad during their degree, and was now looking to start their fulltime career.
The candidate found us through our sister site, Grads In Games, and chose to get in contact with us near the end of their degree, where we scheduled a meeting and listened to what the candidate wanted in their first job. With it being the candidate’s first time applying for full time jobs, our specialist graduate recruiter worked closely with the candidate to maximise the impact of their CV and portfolio.
It became clear that the candidate was very passionate and set on working in the games industry, but that there were not many opportunities for them within Ireland. Using our database and contacts, we were able to introduce them to a number of suitable roles we had abroad. The candidate received a number of interview offers which we set meetings up beforehand of to insure that they were ready and feeling confident.
With a number of options to pick from with their strong CV and experience, the candidate ended up taking a role which we put them forward for as a Junior Programmer in the north of England, where they are now working on well-known AAA titles.
As the role involved the candidate moving to another country, we were in regular contact with and helped mitigate any problems that arose along the way until they were comfortably settled in their new apartment and starting their job.
